How to dress when you are short?

How to dress when you're less than 5 feet tall? Which cuts should you choose? What kind of patterns to choose? These are all questions that we are led to ask ourselves if we don't know how to highlight our small size. Here are some tips to help you enhance your figure. And above all, remember that anything small is pretty, so beat the complexes!

Choosing the right colour combinations

Choosing the right clothes also means choosing the right colour. Besides the fact that they are adapted to your colorimetry, it is rather a question of color harmony (an article will soon be available to explain how to associate colors well with each other). When you're small, the ideal is to visually lengthen the silhouette and thus avoid "breaks". To do this, the most suitable harmony is monochrome harmony (or monochrome). A monochrome monochrome harmony is a harmony of the same colour in several shades. For example, an outfit composed of light blue, medium blue and dark blue is a monochrome harmony. Avoid mainly harmonies composed of opposite colours. Indeed, this will bring a visual break and will compact your silhouette instead of lengthening it. The good news is that you can also wear long dresses and overalls! However, make sure you choose a model that structures the silhouette and is neither too flowing nor a loose top. You should also make sure to structure the silhouette by marking the waist.

Choosing the right accessories

Props are a must when you're little. They allow you to stylize an outfit and emphasize the details and the style of the outfit in general rather than its small size. However, you have to choose them carefully. Small, medium and fine accessories are preferred. Larger accessories will tend to take over the rest of the outfit and crush the silhouette. For bags, we therefore prefer medium or small and rather with long straps to give an effect of size while verticality. For jewellery, we also choose fine jewellery and we prefer long necklaces rather than short-necked ones in order to give the impression of length. Concerning shoes, you are lucky, you can afford heels, even very high ones! Be careful however not to fall into excesses to avoid any form of vulgarity. For winter, avoid boots that arrive half-calf, they destructure the silhouette and make you look smaller.

Choosing the right printed matter

As with the large one, the printed matter will be chosen according to its morphology. The prints that interest us here are the stripes. In fact, remember to favour vertical stripes to lengthen the silhouette, thus giving an impression of size and height to the silhouette.

Choosing the right cuts

Here again, the aim is to give the silhouette a sense of height. So avoid loose fitting clothes that flatten the figure, long jackets or low rise trousers. On the other hand, you should wear tight-fitting clothes, made of fluid material and close to the body if you are round, medium-high cut and short jackets. We also think about structuring the silhouette by marking the waist (if the waist is marked, otherwise, we wear cuts close to the body but not tight). We also favour short clothes such as mini skirts or crop tops. Also remember that it's all about proportions, so always make sure to emphasize the silhouette, keeping in mind that it's important to balance the proportions of the body. And this is as true for tall as it is for short.
